Uk gamers getting the short end of the stick with Direct2Drive deal.

d2dRecently the legal PC game download service Direct2Drive turned five years old, and to celebrate they lower the prices of many top games including Bioshock, Civ 4, Saints Row 2 and many others down to £5.   For most of these games this is a great deal and if there’s something you want highly I recommend picking it up if you cant find it cheaper elsewhere.

So, what’s my problem then?

Because the Direct2Drive is five years old, Uk users pay five Pounds for these games but US users only play five Dollars.  For people that don’t know about the current exchange rate, it means that UK users are paying around $9 (£5) and US users are paying around £3 ($5).  Meaning UK users are paying £2 ($4) more per game than their US counterparts.

As I said this is still a good deal for UK gamers and I can understand that Direct2Drive is five so £5 makes sense but I just cant help feeling that yet agian UK gamers are being forced to pay more for the exact same thing.
